How to know if you can afford a house?

The first step is to speak with a lender who can look at all of your financials, fill out a loan application and meet with you and provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of all the costs to purchase a home. We work with a lender who takes it one step further. They fully underwrite your loan within the first 7 days. 



Movement Mortgage was founded in 2008 with a different business model than any other mortgage company. Movement mortgage does the loan process backwards. Yes, I said backwards. A traditional lender will take a look at your preliminary finances and then will either issue you a pre-qualify letter or a pre-approval letter  for the loan. However both the pre-qualify letter and the pre-approval letter do not guarantee the loan to close. The reason for the uncertainty  in the traditional process is the loan must still go through underwriting  and most mortgage companies wait until the last week of the escrow to put the loan into underwriting. Movement Mortgage recognized that having the underwriting done within the first 7 days of the loan process instead of the last week of escrow would help the buyer and seller(especially the buyer) from any heartache.  This innovative  alternative to the process helps keep deals together and gives you the buyer more buying power. First if you have dealt with all of the underwriting conditions within the 1st seven days of contacting the lender to mortgage approval then you will not have any conditions at the end of escrow. This ensures that you will close on time and will not have to pay possible extension fees, the seller will not cancel the deal because you are out of escrow date and you don't have to run around at the last minute while you are moving to get conditions met. The biggest benefit to the buyer and seller are that any buyer that has an unconditional underwritten approval is like a cash buyer and there will be no hidden issues that will come up because they have already been dealt with during the first 7 days. This is a huge factor in being able to negotiate an offer with a seller.
